Episode 1 – The First of Us

Join us in September for the kickoff of the five-part series of HUMAN, a groundbreaking new documentary hosted by paleoanthropologist Ella Al-Shamahi. This beautifully produced series traces the extraordinary story of how Homo sapiens became the dominant species on Earth—exploring what makes us unique, how we’ve evolved, and what we still share with our ancient ancestors.

🎬 Episode 1: “Becoming Us”
We begin our journey deep in the past—over 2 million years ago—where multiple human species once walked the Earth. This episode explores how we emerged from that crowded evolutionary field, what traits helped us outlast our rivals, and what it means to be human.

🔬 Science Meets Storytelling
This series blends the latest discoveries in genetics, fossil records, and archaeology with stunning reconstructions and global perspectives—making it as intellectually rich as it is visually captivating.

📅 A Monthly Exploration of Humanity
We’ll screen one episode each Third Thursday from September through January, with post-screening discussions about the information presented, how it changes our perspective of our own evolution and what it means to be HUMAN.

This event is free and open to all. Please arrive early enough to get seated by showtime as the film will begin promptly at 6:30 PM.
