About OMAHA

Daniel Radcliffe quote on atheism

The Omaha Metro Area Humanist Association (OMAHA) was established first and foremost to create a local community for non-theistic individuals in our area that believe in living ethical and fulfilling lives based on reason and humanity. Whether you’re a long-time resident or newly arrived in the Omaha area, if you’re looking for opportunities to socialize with other freethinking, secular humanists, OMAHA is the place for you. You can find upcoming events and RSVP on our Meetup page or join the conversation on our Facebook page.

We recognize the value in the unique set of life experiences and knowledge that each of our members brings to our group and the importance of diversity in building a strong and vibrant organization. Our goal is that our organization evolves from a group of acquaintances sharing a common worldview, to a caring community of individuals invested in supporting each other and in growing and promoting Humanism in our community.

If you accept that the welfare of humankind – rather than the welfare of a supposed God or gods – to be of paramount importance, and that what matters is our responsibility to lead meaningful, ethical lives capable of adding to the greater good of humanity, then you are a humanist. If your worldview is informed by science, inspired by art, and motivated by compassion then you are a Humanist. If you affirm the dignity of and support equal rights for every human being, support the maximization of individual liberty and opportunity consonant with social and planetary responsibility, then you are a Humanist and we’d be thrilled to have you as a member of OMAHA.
